These are most commonly known terms which is used to be implemented in every business, institutes and in organizations. However most of the people in the world don't know about the difference between extinction and punishment, its advantages and disadvantages.

Definition of Punishment=

It is often said that people used to punish employees for their undesired act which is against the rules of organization or the business.

Definition of Extinction=

Extinction can be defined as the step taken by employer in order to lower the reward of employee for his unwanted act in the organization or the business.
  

 Difference Between Extinction and Punishment:

Punishment=

Punishment is stopping someone to do unwanted things in an organization in order to prevent them to do unwanted things in future time.
It is somehow removes the positive consequence to do the same things again and again in future.
For example:
Suspending an employee for doing against rules of organization.if any employee come late at office or do task wrongly and employer decides to suspend that employee irrespective to the fact that he may be a brilliant employee who needs an attention in other way like taking some other action instead of suspending it.
Although it is very necessary to use this term carefully in order to decrease its negative impact on organization.

Extinction=

Extinction is that act of employer in which employer don't suspend the employees but used to decrease the reward or benefits provided to the employee based on his/her performance.
For example:
If someone behave against the rules like coming late at office or submitting task or project reports late or task completed not in proper way this may results in decreasing salary or bonuses or other rewards.
Doing this may help the organization to stop unwanted behavior conducted by employees.
It is useful to reduce unwanted acts of employees and supposed to be less negative and more effective than punishment.

So every Employer must use both the above terms after knowing its consequences its benefits and losses which may faced by an organizations when they implement and take such steps.This may help the employers to make perfect decisions.
