The 14 Steps of Crosby are
following.
1.
Management Commitment=
It is necessary to
consistently produce quality products and services at the optimum price. This
commitment must also be transparent to all employees for the prevention of
defects in all the operating departments.
2.
Improved Quality=
Search for team members who
will model quality improvement commitment, every function of an operation must contributes to defect
levels, every function must participate in the quality improvement effort. The quality improvement
team should be able to effectively commit themselves to improvement of quality.
3.
Measuring the Quality=
Firstly
you have to know exactly where your products and services lie when it comes to
conforming to requirements. Thus, the third step on Crosby's list is to measure
quality. Determine where there is room for improvement and where potential for improvement
exists.
4. Cost
of Quality=
Explain how the cost of
quality figures into the overall company plan. Define the ingredients of the COQ and explain its use as a
management tool.
5.
Quality Awareness of all employees=
Provide a method of raising the personal
concern felt by all personnel in the company. By the time a company is ready
for the quality awareness step, they should have a good idea of the types and
expense of the problems being faced.
6. Correct the quality issues=
Take
corrective action to eliminate the defects that have been identified then provide a systematic method of
permanently resolving the problems that are identified through previous action
steps. Problems that are identified must be documented and then resolved
formally.
7. Zero
Defects Monitoring=
The quality improvement task team should
list all the individual action steps that build up to Zero Defects day in order
to make the most meaningful presentation of the concept and action plan to
personnel of the company. For Crosby, it's not enough; remember to have as few
as possible defects. Instead, you really need to have this number at zero,
establish a zero-defect tolerance in your company.
8.
Training for Employees=
Explain the procedure of
training for all the employees need in order to actively carry out their part
of the quality improvement program.
Ensure that your employees can carry out the tasks required of them for
maintaining quality. By practicing supervisor training, with quality in mind
then you will be more likely to achieve zero-defect issue.
9.
Zero Defects Day=
Zero Defects is a revelation to all
involved that they are embarking on a new way of corporate life. You must celebrate a
quality event, called a zero defects day, where all employees are made aware of
the change that has taken place. By holding a zero defects day in your company
when implementing a total quality management project, you can be sure that you
are increasing awareness for quality in your company.
10.
Add More Employees in Goal Setting
After implementing a
change, you will need to ensure that you involve everyone - both employees and
supervisors - in the goal setting process. By bringing everyone in the company
in on setting goals for improvement, you can ensure greater commitment to
achieving zero defects.
11.
Remove Causes of Errors
Error-cause
removal is set up on the basis that
the worker need only recognize the problem. When the worker has stated the
problem, the proper department in the plant can look into it. Error-cause removal is
necessary for the successful implementation of any quality improvement effort.
Encourage your employees to come to management with any obstacles or issues
that arise in attempting to meet improvement goals.
12. Participants
Recognition=
Appreciate those who participate. People
really don’t work for money. They go to work for it, but once the salary has
been established their concern is appreciation By regularly recognizing those who
participate in quality improvement efforts, employees will be much more likely
to continue to participate.
13.
Quality Councils=
It is vital for the professional quality
people of an organization to meet regularly just to share their problems,
feelings, and experiences, with each other. By bringing together specialists and
employees, you can create a focused effort towards creating lasting quality
improvement implementations. Make sure your quality councils meet on a regular
basis.
14.
Repeat all the techniques=
There is always a great sign of relief when goals are
reached. If care is not taken, the entire program will end at that moment. In order to really make improvements in the quality of your
products and services, you will need to do all these again and again because
quality improvement does not end.
